Mass spectrometry is an important part of wastewater laboratory analysis, enabling the identification and quantification of complex compounds like dissolved organic matter, pharmaceuticals and nanoplastics, which helps in understanding process performance and optimizing treatment strategies. Shimadzu Scientific Instruments recently introduced the LCMS-8065XE, the company’s latest evolution in triple quadrupole mass spectrometry that redefines analytical excellence with higher sensitivity, efficiency and sustainability.
The LCMS-8065XE features Shimadzu’s StreamFocus technology, a low-dispersion nebulizer nozzle that the company says dramatically reduces liquid droplet dispersion while maximizing ion-intake efficiency. This reduces nebulizer gas consumption by up to sevenfold compared to conventional ESI sources and achieves sensitivity
