The Sarasota (California) County project to expand and convert the Bee Ridge Water Reclamation Facility to advanced wastewater treatment earned a Gold Envision Award from the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure.
The Village of Endicott, New York, received $10 million through the state’s Water Quality Improvement Project to support installing a moving bed biofilm reactor at the wastewater plant.
Ron Edwards, general manager of the Big Sky County (Montana) Water and Sewer District, retired after 30 years and was succeeded by Johnny O’Connor.
Timothy Myatt was named wastewater treatment facility superintendent for Burlington, Mississippi.
Russell Pruett of Kirksville, Missouri, retired after 40 years and eight months of service. He started as a meter reader in 1984 and was promoted to operator at the water treatment plant in 2003 before becoming plant superintendent in 2020.
Geneva Kaiser received the Water Wheel Award at the Joint North Dakota Water Convention and Irrigation Workshop for leadership and perseverance for protecting, developing and managing the state’s water resources.
Perry Nelson, retiring water and wastewater superintendent in Prescott, Arkansas, was recognized for 48 years of service to the city.
The City of Lenoir and Johnston County Public Utilities received Area Wide Optimization Awards from the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality, Division of Water Resources.
Larry Durkin, water treatment plant operator in Lawrence, received the 2024 State Leadership Award for Massachusetts from the New England Water Works Association. He has been a member of both NEWWA and the Massachusetts Water Works Association for 24 years.
The Everett Water Filtration Plant received the bronze-level Treatment Optimization Program award from the Washington Department of Health.
Don Getty was named Distinguished Civilian Employee for 2024 by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Nashville District, where he served for 38 years.
