Aqua-Aerobic announces key leadership changes
In December, Peter Baumann, president and CEO of Aqua-Aerobic, stepped away from his leadership role after 27 years with the company and will retire in April. James Horton, vice president, process group, assumed the role of president and CEO of Aqua-Aerobic Systems on Jan. 1. Horton has 25 years with the company. He joined Aqua-Aerobic in 2000 as an application engineer. In 2003 he spent six years in Australia as the company’s international business manager before returning to the U.S. in 2009 to lead the biological processes group. In 2012, Horton was promoted to director, product management and then promoted to his vice president role.
Stantec selected to help oversee DC Water capital improvement program
Stantec has been selected by DC Water to manage the agency’s water capital improvement program. Under the joint venture known as the Water Smart Alliance, the team will oversee a five-year, $43 million program, which will center around updating aging infrastructure, improving system reliability, integrating advanced technology and increasing operational efficiency. DC Water provides services to millions of residents and uses a distribution system with over 1,300 miles of underground pipe. In some cases, this includes cast iron pipes dating back to the 1800s. WSA will help address this aging infrastructure and will support Lead Free DC, an initiative to ensure lead service lines are identified and replaced throughout the District of Columbia.
Renew Brew recycled water pale ale available through partnership with Xylem
Renew Brew, North Carolina’s first beer made from recycled water, is now available in select stores thanks to a partnership between CLTW, innovative local brewery Town Brewing, and Xylem. The pale ale is brewed with renewed Queen City Water and carbon-negative Epiphany craft malt. QC Water uses a state-of-the-art process including carbon filtering, reverse osmosis and advanced oxidation (ozone and UV treatment) to create the best in clean water for this beverage. QC Water also meets and exceeds all safe drinking water standards and guidelines set by the Environmental Protection Agency through the Safe Water Drinking Act.
Pasi Kyckling appointed as Metso’s CFO
Metso has appointed Pasi Kyckling as the company’s chief financial officer and a member of the Metso leadership team. Kyckling will start in his role in July 2025 at the latest. Kyckling holds a master’s degree in economics, and he currently serves as the acting CFO and group transformation officer at Stora Enso. Previously, he has held several finance, strategy and IT related leadership roles in the biomaterials division, group treasury and group controlling at Stora Enso.
United Rentals to acquire H&E Rentals
United Rentals and H&E Equipment Services (d/b/a H&E Rentals) announced their entry into a definitive agreement under which United Rentals will acquire H&E for $92 per share in cash, reflecting a total enterprise value of approximately $4.8 billion, including approximately $1.4 billion of net debt. Founded in 1961, H&E provides its customers with a comprehensive mix of high-quality general rental fleet including aerial work platforms, earthmoving equipment, material handling equipment and other general and specialty lines of equipment. With approximately 2,900 employees and $2.9 billion of rental fleet at original cost, the company serves a diverse mix of customers across both construction and industrial markets through its network of approximately 160 branches in over 30 U.S. states.
