Field collection of water or wastewater system asset data can be time-consuming. It typically entails inputting plate data and assessing the condition of an asset one at a time. Cost-saving opportunities come from increased efficiency of data-collection labor and a streamlined and accurate inventory process that is more quickly built and consistently updated. According to Zach, plants often use several consulting firms for condition assessments, which results in inconsistent data and formats.
