Small WWTP Gets Big Plant Protection with Grit King Compact

A north-central Ohio treatment plant that protected the water quality for a village of just 692 was experiencing an increasing maintenance burden due to not having a headworks grit removal system. The plant treated just 50,000 gallons per day during average flows, but that flow would spike to 725,000 gallons per day at peak flows. The plant operated mostly unmonitored, with a certified operator only available to check in on the plant’s operation just once or twice a week. Grit in their plant was increasing their required maintenance, but maintenance labor was in very short supply.

The plant needed a very low maintenance grit removal system that was easy to install and adjustable to fit within their existing site layout and structures to reduce expensive site construction costs. The fine grit removal performance required to provide the protection their plant needed was critical but the system also needed to fit within a small plant’s budget. The only solution that met all of their criteria was found in a Grit King Compact system. Learn more about the project in this case study.
