"I was a chemist for five years, so my primary responsibility was to be the problem solver," says Roberts. "If anything went wrong, I was the one that was fixing it, or I was delegating how to fix things. But now, as a laboratory manager, I definitely have to take a step back and allow my chemists and my laboratory specialists to do that while coaching them and mentoring them toward the right answer."
