The Centrisys/CNP THK Series sludge thickener is not a modified dewatering centrifuge. It is specifically designed for sludge thickening. By removing the conical section and increasing the cylindrical length, both changes increase G-volume and result in higher throughput. A hydraulic-solids baffle disc and air injection allow it to use little to no polymer under most conditions. Typically, it uses 0 to 2 pounds per dry ton of polymer for waste activated sludge, where an average modified centrifuge consumes approximately 10 to 12 pounds per dry ton of polymer. It also delivers 2 to 10 percent total solids with an energy usage as low as 0.05 kW per gpm, a quarter of the energy required for modified centrifuges.
