ELODE’s latest innovation, the Evaporative Dryer (EVD), introduces an efficient, sustainable solution for further drying sludge cake produced by ELODE or mechanical dewatering processes. This low-temperature belt dryer can process cake at 10% dry solids or higher, drying it to 90% dry solids or more. This enables the production of Class A biosolids while maintaining a low operating temperature of about 70 degrees C. The EVD uses a closed-loop convection system, incorporating heat pumps to optimize heat recovery and minimize energy waste. By recycling warm air, it consumes under 400 kWh to remove 1 ton of water, making it a cost-effective solution for treatment facilities and industries with sludge management challenges.

How it Works

In the EVD drying process, sludge cake enters a shaping machine, which extrudes it onto a belt. Warm air passes over, capturing moisture as two belts convey the cake to the exit. The A/C evaporator removes moisture, and dehumidified air is reheated and recirculated. Finally, the dried cake is conveyed away.

ELODE USA sells sludge dryers and is known for its electroosmosis dehydrator Elode and evaporative dryer EVD. They separate water from sludge more energy efficiently.
