The MX4 iQuad portable gas detector from Industrial Scientific monitors oxygen, combustible gases, and toxic gases including carbon monoxide, hydrogen sulfide and nitrogen dioxide. The detector is available separately or as part of a four-year, maintenance-free iNet software service agreement.

The iNet service analyzes data, sends alerts and reports by e-mail, and performs bump tests, calibrations, and recordkeeping through a docking station. It also covers product updates and replacement.

“iNet isn’t a new service — it has been around for several years,” says Chris Lange, manager of marketing, Americas. “The reason it’s catching on now is the current economic situation: the workplace environment of doing much more with fewer resources, and the need and desire to have a safer workplace.”

Other product features include ultra-bright LED, 95 dB audible and vibration alarms, choice of five field-replaceable sensors, real-time display, and high-impact polycarbonate housing with dust- and water-resistant protective rubber overmold.

Measuring 4 by 2.25 by 1.25 inches and weighing less than 7 ounces, the lithium or alkaline battery-powered monitor is UL, ATEX, IECEx and CSA certified. Its operating temperature range is -4 to 122 degrees F. The detector measures combustible gases, methane and oxygen in one percent increments, carbon monoxide in one ppm increments, and hydrogen sulfide and nitrogen dioxide in 0.1 ppm increments.
