A population boom and a plant at the end of its natural life meant the City of Whitefish needed to upgrade the lagoon-style treatment plant to support increased flow rates and meet stricter nutrient standards. City officials evaluated different treatment technologies, including conventional activated sludge, lagoon treatment, and aerobic granular sludge.
