You can hardly attend a wastewater treatment convention these days without being offered a taste of beer made with reclaimed water.

Xylem has been in on that trend, but tried something quite different at the WEFTEC conference this week in New Orleans. On Monday, the company’s exhibit featured a wine tasting — a white and two reds made with reuse water.

The wines were appropriately paired with cubes of various cheeses along with crackers and mixed nuts. From the time the tasting opened at 4 p.m. until the show close for the day at 5 p.m., the booth was packed and the wine flowed freely.
