After 34 years in wastewater, Michael Neal retired. He had served as wastewater superintendent in Nevada, Iowa, since 1993, and for the past nine years was public works director.

The Cranston and Smithfield plants received the 2020 Platinum Award from the Rhode Island Clean Water Association, for perfect permit compliance for at least three consecutive years. 

New Jersey American Water received a Leading Infrastructure Project Award from the New Jersey Alliance for Action.

Tim Perkins was recognized by the Forsyth County (Georgia) Board of Commissioners for his retirement as director of the county water and sewer department.

The Robert L. Moylan Jr. Water Filtration Plant in Worcester received a 2020 Public Water System Award from the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection.

Radhika Fox was been appointed U.S. EPA principal deputy assistant administrator for the Office of Water by the Biden administration.
