Anhydrous or quicklime is great for pH adjusting and coagulating solids, what must be done before it can be used? The answer to the question is B, it must be slaked (mixed with water). Quicklime is an excellent chemical for solids coagulation and pH adjustment, as it is relatively inexpensive and easy to use. The main disadvantage to quicklime is it is difficult to store as it absorbs moisture and cakes solid. It also must slaked (mixed into a slurry with water) before use. Upon use, you must practice precautions as the slurry will heat and boiling temperature may be reached
