Remaining Carbon Service Testing from Activated Carbon Services – PACS provides an estimate to every activated carbon user as to how much longer their carbon beds will last. Carbon beds are expensive and require operational changeout and planning. The testing compares starting activated carbons against used activated carbon. Starting activated carbon is important, as most clients do not save a sample to put in their adsorbers. Three ASTM tests are performed, including received and dry apparent densities, iodine activity, and number and heat of immersion. Each tests provides specific information.
