The Marlin (Texas) City Council has approved the emergency purchase of two portable water treatment plants to address the city's ongoing drinking water crisis. This action follows the closure of Marlin school campuses due to the water issues.
Gov. Greg Abbott declared a state of disaster for Falls County, allowing Marlin to utilize water treatment plants not yet approved by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality while the city's main plant is out of service. While considered a temporary solution for up to 30 days, the cause of the main plant's failure remains unknown despite multiple engineering inspections, potentially linked to recent power surges.
