A wastewater treatment plant located on the Ohio River disinfects municipal and industrial wastewater before introducing it back into the river. The plant had been using a UV system to disinfect its effluent, and although it was in good working order, issues arose due to the industrial loading. The UV system was unable to meet mandated disinfection requirements reliably. The case study details the successful switch to peracetic acid.
