Derek Albertson was named Town of Montville, Connecticut, Water Pollution Control Authority superintendent and administrator.  


The U.S. EPA’s New England Office awarded four 2022 Regional Wastewater Treatment Awards to New Hampshire wastewater facilities and individuals:

  • Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant Excellence, Sunapee Wastewater Treatment Facility.
  • Regional Industrial Pretreatment Program Excellence, City of Manchester.
  • Regional Wastewater Trainer of the Year, Anthony Drouin, New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services.
  • Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator of the Year, David Lovely, chief operator, Pease Wastewater Treatment Facility.


Travis Calhoun was hired as Columbus, Indiana, City Utilities Wastewater Treatment Plant superintendent.


Jim Herberg, general manager of the Orange County, California, Sanitation District, received the 2023 National Environmental Achievement Award from the National Association of Clean Water Agencies for utility leadership.


Dale Bennett, water treatment operator for Siloam Springs, won a Northwest Arkansas Water Equality Assistance award from the Arkansas Water Works Association.


Tuscan Village, a sustainable mixed-use development, received the Green Steps Award from the New England Water Environment Association for innovation and sustainability.


The City of Rock Island Water Department won the Illinois Section AWWA District 1 Water Taste Test Competition.


Northern Kentucky Water District received a KEMI Destiny Award for workplace safety for the 11th time from Kentucky Employers’ Mutual Insurance.


Rick Kinkelaar, wastewater treatment plant operator in Effingham, Illinois, retired after more than 35 years of service to the city.
