Eductor system installs media fast

Tight schedule constraints forced Crossland Heavy Contractors of Columbus, Kan., to install new filter media at the Lake Fort Smith (Ark.) Water Treatment Plant after the precast roof was installed.

Project engineer Ryan Adler worked with Flo Trend to build an eductor system using a Media Mover Jet Hopper large enough to hold a super-sack of media. After connecting the unit to a pressurized water line, the crew unloaded bulk bags of anthracite, sand and gravel at 150 to 200 pounds per minute. They evenly distributed the aggregate around the filter bed by moving the discharge hose.

Crossland saved time and money by installing the media faster and with less manpower than when placing media with a crane. 800/762-9893;
