Observing World Water Day

Is your organization joining in some way in this international celebration?

The World Water Day organization is designating 2013 as the International Year of Water Cooperation. In the U.S., plans are underway for events to commemorate World Water Day on March 22.

A coalition of individuals, faith-based groups, civic organizations, non-profit organizations, for-profit companies, and philanthropic foundations will be calling for increased commitments by the U.S. government and private citizens to improve sustainable access to safe drinking water and improved sanitation for around the world.

Planned activities around the nation include walks for water, fundraising events, and academic forums, all culminating in Advocacy Day on March 20 in Washington, D.C. on Capitol Hill. Globally, hundreds of thousands of people will walk in solidarity during the week of March 16-24. They will call on decision-makers to keep their promises to end the water and sanitation crisis and achieve sanitation and water for all.
