The Phys.org website reports that workers have discovered hundreds of bones belonging to Ice Age animals, including mammoths, mastodons, while digging to build a wastewater treatment plant north of Mexico City.
Experts from the Mexico National Institute of Anthropology and History said the bones could be 10,000 and 12,000 years old “and may include a human tooth from the late Pleistocene period,” according to the news story.
The bones included tusks, skulls, jawbones, horns, ribs, vertebrae and shells that had been buried about 65 feet deep. They were discovered as workers built a drain. “These remains belong to a range of
