The Arizona Department of Water Resources and the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality are planning a public outreach festival that brings together more than 20 organizations for a day of learning, exploration and family-friendly fun.
The Arizona Water Awareness Month Festival will take place at Steele Indian School Park in Phoenix Saturday, April 11, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
Why you should go
This free outdoor event offers fun for all ages, featuring hands-on activities and games for kids, interactive booths, demonstrations and giveaways, as well as a virtual reality tour of a water treatment facility. Attendees can also enjoy gourmet food trucks and eateries, live acoustic sessions from local artists, and a chance to spend time outside while learning about Arizona’s most precious resource.
Visitors can ride an energy-generating bike to see how much power it takes to move water and try hands-on water science activities. The event also includes live water quality monitoring demonstrations, exhibits on rivers, wildlife and water conservation, and dozens of interactive booths from across Arizona.
Water plays a role in nearly every part of life, from what we drink and eat to how we enjoy the outdoors. This event gives families a chance to learn where their water comes from, how it’s treated and how it’s protected across Arizona. ADWR works to conserve and manage Arizona’s water supply, while ADEQ ensures that water is safe to drink and protects the quality of rivers and lakes.
