An explosion at a chemical feed system at the Indiana American Water treatment plant in Noblesville recently prompted a shelter-in-place for the surrounding area. Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene, where a company employee was found with minor injuries. He was transported to a hospital as a precautionary measure.

Public safety authorities have since issued an all-clear, and the shelter-in-place order has been lifted. The Noblesville Fire Department confirmed that the situation is now under control, with the incident contained to the plant.

Boil-Water Advisory Lifted After L.A. Water Outage

Tap water in the Granada Hills and Porter Ranch areas of Los Angeles has been declared safe to drink, and a week-long boil-water order for more than 9,200 Los Angeles Department of Water and Power customers has been lifted. The water outage began Aug. 5 when a valve broke during emergency repairs at a pump station, requiring crews to undertake a complex, 24-foot underground excavation to fix the damage.

Water service was fully restored to the affected area Aug. 11, and a day later, testing confirmed the water was safe, allowing the boil-water order to be lifted. The outage occurred during a mini heat wave, and in response, the LADWP distributed over 1 million bottles of water to residents, including door-to-door deliveries for vulnerable customers.

Gusciora defended the city's progress on its troubled water utility, citing recent capital improvements and a new rate stabilization plan. He accused the state of disregarding these strides while attempting to force the city into a predetermined outcome of regionalization.

"Your letter appears to disregard the strides being made and instead calls for immediate regionalization — without first conducting the public process that would ensure fairness, transparency, and informed consent," reads part of Gusciora's response.
