A boil-water advisory was issued for the East Bank of New Orleans and Algiers Point after a foil balloon struck a power line, briefly causing an outage at the Carrollton Water Treatment Plant.
Entergy New Orleans reported that the mylar balloon caused a brief power fluctuation, which tripped pumps offline, leading to a drop in water pressure below the threshold needed to avoid the advisory. The Sewerage & Water Board of New Orleans confirmed that the advisory is precautionary as crews work to restore power and water pressure in the affected areas.
