The City of Becker, Minnesota, needed to replace two belt presses but wished to use the existing building and conveyors. This project was an opportunity for Fournier Industries to propose their most recent product: the eight-channel Rotary Press.

The proposed rotary presses were pre-assembled and skid-mounted at the factory. This gave the plant the ability to install the rotary presses without having to rebuild the existing concrete floor, where the belt presses were previously located. It also expedited the installation and commissioning process. The new conveyors receiving the solid cakes from the rotary presses each feed into the existing conveyor system seamlessly.

The installation of the two rotary presses has been a welcomed addition, as Dave Pesola, supervisor of the City of Becker's water and wastewater department, comments, "Since the Fournier rotary presses have been in operation at our facility, the staff has been very pleased with the quality of the biosolids produced, the ease of operation and the quietness of the equipment. The low water usage compared to the belt presses we were using is also an added benefit. This has resulted in reducing moisture in the press room that had contributed to problems with the electrical and HVAC equipment."
