All of the wastewater generated throughout Oakland, Califonia’s East Bay Municipal Utility District combines at the influent pump station where preliminary treatment is provided. Pumps lift the wastewater approximately 30 feet up so it can flow through the rest of the plant.
EBMUD provides drinking water for 1.4 million customers in Alameda and Contra Costa counties. The district’s wastewater treatment protects San Francisco Bay and serves 740,000 customers.
