In 2017 at the annual WEFTEC show, Crane Pumps and Systems launched the SITHE Chopper pump by Barnes. Backed by the dependability and longevity of the Barnes reputation in submersible pumping, SITHE chopper pumps are Barnes’ solution to highly demanding wastewater applications in the collections system market.

Since the initial debut in 2017, several additions and improvements have been made to the SITHE chopper pump portfolio. Today, SITHE choppers are available in standard and explosion-proof models in 3-, 4-, 6-, 8- and 10-inch discharge sizes ranging from 3 to 150 hp with flows up to 5,000 gpm. SITHE chopper pumps have a unique, patent-pending chopping technology that slices even the most troublesome solids in waste streams.

SITHE chopper pumps provide immense value to customers like ease of servicing, ability to upgrade, high reliability and low life cycle cost. SITHE provides this value to customers in the form of market distinguishing features like open center cutter design, field replaceable heat-treated blades, plug-and-play cord, liquid cooled motor and large lifting bail.

To showcase the power and performance of the Barnes chopper, Crane Pumps & Systems commissioned the SITHE Chopper Trailer, a mobile demonstration chopper pump and tank to exhibit the chopping capabilities of the SITHE to customers across the United States. The trailer hit the road in September of 2018 making its debut in Indiana and Illinois. This trailer features a 7.5 hp 230V SITHE chopper pump and 75-gallon water tank. Operators of the trailer insert troublesome products commonly found in the waste stream and allow spectators to witness first-hand the chopping capability of the SITHE. Mop heads, flushable wipes, rope, t-shirts and more residential and industrial items are easily macerated by the slicing blades of the SITHE chopper and quickly pass through the pump without clogging or jamming.

The trailer has visited over 100 municipalities and engineering firms in the U.S. since September of 2018 in the Midwest, Northeast, South, and Southeast regions. The SITHE trailer continues to travel throughout the country with the following schedule throughout 2019:

• March-April: Texas and Oklahoma
• April: Louisiana and Arkansas
• May: Tennessee and Kentucky
• June: Indiana and Michigan
• July: Indiana and Ohio
• August-September: Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, Pennsylvania
• October: Washington and Oregon
• November: California and Arizona
• December: Florida and North Carolina
