Treatment + Get AlertsSpiral Water Technologies, a developer of advanced filtration solutions for difficult-to-treat waters, displayed its high-solids filtration and concentration technology at WEFTEC 2016 in New Orleans Sept. 26-28.
The core of the company’s technology platform is its automatic self-cleaning filter, which can be used as a pre-filter or primary filter, or for reclamation from existing filter backwash or centrifuge underflow. The company says its benefits include macro filtration of suspended solids (25,000 mg/l TSS), a self-cleaning, one-pass process with no backwash or cross-flow, continuous 10- to 100-micron filtration, and 99 percent water recovery.
A solids concentration process uses purge technology for waste collection and product recovery. The technology can filter water up to 100 times dirtier than traditional automatic filters while using only 10 percent of the energy required, in a lighter, more compact unit.
Because the system allows one-pass low-micron filtration with no backwash or crossflow, high and variable solids are automatically concentrated and purged in the same process. This enables product recovery solutions that go beyond traditional filtration.
Companies in sectors such as food and beverage are using the system to efficiently recover product that had been wasted. The filter can also reduce the need for centrifuges and thickeners. The filters are available as stand-alone units or in multi-filter skids. The company is working with clients and partners to create industry- and process-specific solutions. Visit www.spiralwater.com.
