Water Association Applauds Passage of Hydrant Bill

The U.S. Senate passed HR3588, the Community Fire Safety Act, on unanimous consent. The bill passed earlier in December in the U.S. House on a vote of 384-0. Once signed into law by President Obama, HR3588 would exempt fire hydrants from compliance with the Reduction of Lead in Drinking Water Act.“The American Water Works Association applauds the U.S. Senate for its swift action in passing the Community Fire Safety Act, HR3588 through unanimous consent,” said Executive Director David LaFrance. “Our elected leaders have done great service for their communities, and we are optimistic that President Obama will sign the bill
