Pumps + Get AlertsFor nearly 40 years, it was thought that NEW Water, the brand of the Green Bay Metropolitan Sewerage District, held the distinction of having the “Tallest Building in Green Bay” with a 15-story pump station (10 stories below ground, five stories above ground). However, new additions at Lambeau Field, home of the Green Bay Packers, means the legendary NFL team now holds that title.
NEW Water reclaims water and promotes pollution prevention and water conservation in a 285-square-mile area in and around the City of Green Bay, Wis., serving some 217,000 residents.
The agency owns clean-water plants in Green Bay and De Pere that together process an average of 38 mgd. The pump station takes in about 30 million gallons of water per day, which is ushered through the plant for treatment before it is discharged into the Fox River.
NEW Water created a short video to congratulate the Packers on this new distinction of having the tallest building in town.
“It’s the least we could do, especially if it means bringing the Superbowl back to Green Bay,” says Bruce Bartel, NEW Water treatment manager.
NEW Water also recently created a new identity to better reflect its ultimate purpose. Check out an interview with a few staff members!
