Disinfection using ozone can be performed efficiently with the GDT System from Mazzei Injector Company. It eliminates the need for storage and handling of large quantities of chemicals, and unlike chlorine, ozone does not yield disinfection byproducts such as trihalomethanes or haloacetic acids; although if ozone has a long contact time with bromine in water, the reaction can yield bromate. To prevent this, and simultaneously improve energy efficiency while maximizing taste, odor and color control of the water, the mass transfer of ozone into the water must be optimized and the contact time minimized.
