The inert fluidized bed drying process can be combined with a gasification step in a new and innovative method for handling biosolids. The heat is then recovered and used to offset a major portion (if not all) of the energy needed in the drying step.
Additional benefits include a typical 95 percent reduction in the weight of the final material, and the elimination of the additional equipment normally required to treat the dryer offgas.
