Precision Regulator Adds Total Control to Pneumatic Drives

Pneumatic drives are often utilized in water treatment facilities to support filtration processes. Often in filter basins, they assist the cleaning process, as from time to time the basins must be cleared of dirt particles. To do so, they are rinsed with freshwater and air. The drives move the butterfly valves that prevent groundwater from being let in during the rinsing process.

To assist in that process, ControlAir offers the high flow-capacity Type 7000 Precision Air Pressure Regulator. It is designed to provide a high level of regulation accuracy and repeatability during variable high flow conditions. Its large port size options and rugged construction make it suitable to be used in a wide range of pneumatic drive systems.

The advantage of pneumatic drive technology is that it is clean, which is essential when dealing with drinking water. The drives are also reliable and can be operated for a very long time. That is extremely important at the waterworks, as any sort of disruption of clean-water service can lead to not only customer complaints, but health and safety concerns as well.

The Type 7000 utilizes an isolated control chamber to minimize output variation and vibration/honking during flow conditions. An integral aspirator tube helps maintain downstream pressure by compensating for pressure droop during flow conditions. The balanced supply valve virtually eliminates changes to supply pressure variation. Soft supply and exhaust valves minimize air consumption.

The Type 7000 is suitable for any process requiring high flow capacity and precise regulation of air pressure. In addition to water and wastewater treatment, it is suitable for a wide range of applications, which include air gauging, gas analyzers, diagnostic equipment, tool balancers, articulating arms, medical ventilating, calibration equipment, pneumatic counter balancers and web tensioning. It offers control sensitivity to 1/2-inch water column pressure, with 1/4-, 1/2- or 3/4-inch NPT porting and 2 1/4-inch NPT gauge ports. An isolated control chamber prevents output variation under varying conditions of flow, supply pressure and temperature. It offers high flow forward with flows up to 250 scfm, while its high exhaust capacity allows relief flow up to 30 scfm. It senses output pressure deviations to within 1/2-inch water column pressure. Options include a tamper-proof cover, tapped exhaust, nonrelieving and ATEX approvals.
