India’s first solar-powered water treatment plant went online in September under the operation of high school students in New Delhi. The plant will treat more than 1,300 gallons of brackish water daily and bottle it. More than 750 children from economically disadvantaged families near the school will receive five liters a day to bring home. The treatment plant was built by the government of Delhi and Social Awareness, Newer Alternatives (SANA) for about $45,000.
