A $35 million renewable energy project for the City of Wilmington, Del., will include a first-of-its-kind facility that converts two sources of biogas into power and heat for the city’s wastewater treatment plant.
The project, to be undertaken by Honeywell, is part of a citywide initiative to cut energy costs and greenhouse gas emissions. The program has also included solar energy installations and energy-efficient building improvements led by Honeywell. Combined, the upgrades will help the city trim its carbon footprint by 35 percent and meet half of its electricity needs with renewable energy.
