The U.S. EPA will host a public meeting Aug. 16 to solicit input from states, manufacturers, drinking water systems, and other interested groups on the new tougher definition of "lead free." Under the new definition, it will be illegal as of 2014 to use pipes, pipe fittings, plumbing fittings, or fixtures that come into contact with drinking water that contain more than:0.2 percent lead when used with respect to solder and flux.
