The London Sun newspaper has reported that U.S. researchers claim to have created a prototype device that can generate electricity from waste water. A team at Pennsylvania State University (Penn State) says the technology would also treat the water, and the researchers say the process could help provide clean water and power for homes.
The newspaper reports that scientists elsewhere have been seeking a way to generate renewable power in coastal areas where fresh water from rivers meets the salt water of the oceans.
