Walking Through California’s Treatment Plant Upgrade of the Year

The multigenerational staff at the City of Oakdale (California) Wastewater Treatment Plant takes process control seriously at a newly upgraded facility.

A major $13 million upgrade earned the City of Oakdale (California) Wastewater Treatment Plant recognition as the Treatment Plant Upgrade of the Year from the state of California and American Society of Civil Engineers.

The improvement project added lining to the aeration ponds, a large clarifier, tertiary filtration, UV disinfection and two Huber screw presses for dewatering. It was a bit of overkill, though, as the facility has a 10 mgd capacity with an average flow of 1.5 mgd.

Check out the video to see how Plant Supervisor Cody Bridgewater, a Grade V operator, deals with the facility’s long detention time.
