In 2016, Brownstown Township, Michigan, changed its treatment process to use finer diffusers and a high-efficiency turbo blower. The fine-bubble air diffusion system by Environment Dynamics International (EDI) and the turbo blower by APG-Neuros helped reduce the plant’s energy by about $1,000 per day, according to plant manager Mark Houle. “We’re getting phosphorus removal down to 0.2 and our discharge limit is 1.0,” he says. Take a tour of the plant and hear how good the fishing is near the plant’s effluent release at the lower end of the Detroit River.
