Franklin Electric promotes Bryan Duffy
Franklin Electric appointed Bryan Duffy to senior business unit manager for industrial distribution. Duffy will set the strategic vision for the segment, leading all commercial activities and supporting the needs and growth of Franklin Electric’s customers. With nearly three decades of experience in the pumping industry, Duffy’s expertise spans a range of industrial markets, including municipal water and wastewater, industrial and process water, commercial HVAC and construction dewatering. He previously served in business development and management roles at Franklin Electric where he was responsible for building the company’s industrial vertical turbine business.

Synagro Technologies and Sedron announce partnership
Synagro Technologies and Sedron announced that Martin County has become the first Florida municipality to commit biosolids to the upcoming Indiantown Upcycling Facility. By partnering with Synagro, Martin County gains access to Sedron’s sustainable technology to transform waste into valuable resources, including carbon negative electricity, without requiring capital investment from the municipality. The Indiantown Upcycling Facility will be located on approximately 11 acres in the village of Indiantown, Florida. Construction is slated to begin in 2026 with operations ramping up in 2028.  

Vasilios Soupos joins WQA
The Water Quality Association announced that Vasilios Soupos has joined the association as vice president of product certification and laboratory services. Soupos, who brings more than 20 years’ experience leading regulatory compliance, quality assurance and operations management across several industries, fills a new position on WQA’s executive team. WQA is a not-for-profit trade association representing the residential, commercial and industrial water treatment industry.  

Stantec partners with WSSC Water and Prince William Water
Stantec has been selected to lead a new Water Research Foundation project focused on applying artificial intelligence to wastewater treatment operations. The 31-month initiative is co-funded through WRF’s Tailored Collaboration Program, with the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission in Maryland and Prince William Water in Virginia serving as coleading utility partners. Stantec will combine engineering and plant operations experience with advanced AI architecture to translate treatment data into actionable operational guidance.  

Veolia launches national workforce partnership
Veolia has launched a new national workforce partnership with the National Youth Employment Coalition to help build the next generation of water and wastewater professionals. The new multi‑city initiative will connect young people in vocational and workforce programs with in‑demand, stable careers in the water sector through expanded recruitment pipelines, employer‑driven training partnerships and early career awareness. The announcement follows Veolia’s recent launch of its Workforce Academy, a free online platform designed to give young workers a direct pathway into water careers across the U.S. Through tapping NYEC’s nationwide network of more than 200 workforce organizations, the partnership aims to engage underserved youth and address the water industry’s growing number of retirements with diverse, job‑ready talent.
