Project: New Civil Center Wastewater Treatment Facility
Details: Facility will use membrane filtration, biological reactors and ultraviolet light to treat wastewater, which will be recycled and used to irrigate properties
Status: Groundbreaking ceremony, June 29
Cost: $57 million
Contractors: Myers and Sons Construction, Vido Artukovich and Son Inc., Nidmar, Inc., Cascade Drilling, LP

Santa Clara Valley Water District
Project: Wolfe Road Recycled Water Facilities Project
Details: Will expand recycled water system by building a boost pump station and installing 2.5 miles of recycled water pipeline
Status: Pipe installation started June 17
Cost: $17.5 million
Completion: About one year

Florida

Volusia County
Project: Upgrades to the Southwest Regional Water Reclamation Facility
Details: Project will redirect wastewater from the decommissioned Four Towns Treatment Plant to the upgraded reclamation facility, which will improve the level of wastewater treatment and produce 220,000 gallons of reclaimed water per day
Status: Construction phase started
Completion: 18 months
Cost: $12.7 million

Idaho

Aberdeen
Project: Improvements and upgrades to Aberdeen wastewater treatment facility
Details: Larger generator, two clarifiers and ultraviolet system added. Plant capacity increased to decrease combined system overflows
Status: Project complete. Ribbon-cutting ceremony, June 24
Cost: $6.9 million

Maine

Bangor
Project: Plant upgrade at Bangor wastewater treatment plant
Details: Replacement of biofilter media system and tower repair
Status: In construction phase
Cost: $2.3 million

Missouri

Cape Girardeau
Project: New transfer station and wastewater treatment plant
Details: Public-private partnership allowed city to build the transfer station without raising fees or taxes. Transfer station features single-scale system that can handle 180 tons per day. New treatment plant increases capacity from 7 mgd to 17.5 mgd.
Status: Ribbon-cutting held May 23
Cost: $4 million

North Carolina

Jacksonville
Project: Wastewater treatment pilot project
Details: Blue Frog System from Absolute Aeration is expected to eliminate built-up organic sludge and eliminate the need to mechanically dredge the waste. The Jacksonville treatment facility consists of three aerated trains, with two wastewater ponds in each train. Absolute Aeration installed 14 circulators in the second cell of the middle train over a two-day period.
Status: Installation complete

Ohio

Avon Lake
Project: Upgrades to Avon Lake Regional water and wastewater treatment plants
Details: Includes $35 million in mechanical overhauls on the wastewater side and $32 million in improvements on the water end
Status: Construction phase begins in June on the wastewater plant
Cost: $68 million

Niles
Project: Upgrade at Niles Wastewater Treatment Plant
Details: Upgrades will expand plant capacity from 13 mgd to 20 mgd and increase wet weather capacity using a loan from Ohio EPA
Status: In construction phase
Cost: $30 million
Completion: 2018
