A wildlife rescue has a happy ending, thanks to two county wastewater system employees. The duo recently discovered a disabled snowy owl in a Muskegon County (Michigan) Wastewater Plant pond. The young male owl apparently took a dive into the pond and ended up with a thick coating of sludge.“All of his primary feathers were covered in gunk,” said Susan Stamy, director of the Braveheart Raptor Rehabilitation Center in an MLive.com article.The owl was unable to fly with his sludge-coated wings, but after a thorough cleaning and nine days at the rehabilitation center, he made a full recovery.
