In 1970, Gaylord Nelson, a U.S. Senator from Wisconsin, hoped he could infuse the energy of the anti-war movement into environmental issues. He hoped to bring awareness to water and air pollution. He hoped the nation would turn a collective eye toward our natural resources and recognize a need for environmental protection. And thus was born Earth Day.
As we celebrate the 45th anniversary of that first event, take a minute to read what others have said about clean water. Here, we've gathered a few quotes about clean water and paired them with some beautiful images. Be inspired, and maybe share an image or two. Happy Earth Day, TPO readers.
