Next Generation Controls and variable-frequency drives from Hoffman & Lamson offer 20 percent annual savings in energy usage when compared to inlet throttling. Horsepower consumption is lower with a VFD than with inlet throttling although both methods provide the same flow and pressure. Inlet throttling decreases blower output, but decreases efficiency. By lowering only the unit speed with a VFD, and not throttling, the blower output decreases while optimal efficiency remains the same as at full speed.

Benefits include:

  • SCADA ready panels with Ethernet standard
  • Meterless flow control using Hoffman & Lamson's proprietary algorithms and VFDs
  • Pre-engineered design packages that reduce electrical installation costs
  • Automated monitoring to provide historical and real-time data for predictive maintenance
