BASF Water Solutions business is continuing to strengthen its team. John Yen, channel partner manager, recently joined the company to support the growth of the Water Solutions business. In addition, three current employees moved into new positions that better align with BASF Water Solutions’ market strategy — Charlie Wright is now the regional territory manager for the Northeast, Piera Eduardo is senior product manager and Martin Riley is a technical service representative for the East Coast.

Yen’s responsibilities include defining, delivering and executing a strategy and associated processes to help enable channel partners of distributors, service providers and key resellers to deliver BASF Water Solution’s innovative product portfolio to all water treatment markets and applications.
Yen has more than 21 years of experience in both the industrial and municipal water industry. For the past 19 years, he has held a number of leadership roles within Siemens Water Technologies, including director of portfolio and director of product management. At Siemens, he drove and aligned product management functions, product globalization and promotion of value-based solutions strategies across the organization.
Yen brings with him a successful management career that includes time with the Ionpure products group where he utilized a mix of CEDI products, Internet sites, customer training, and electronic tools resulting in a leadership position for Siemens’ in the global electrodeionization market. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Rutgers University, a Master’s Degree in Management Science from the University of Massachusetts and is based in East Brunswick, N.J.

In this new role, Wright has sales responsibility for all customers located in the Northeast, which includes the area from North Carolina to Maine. Charlie will also coordinate all technical support for his customer base that includes industrial, municipal, resale and distribution.

As senior product manager, Eduardo’s responsibilities include managing the strategic and tactical execution of the Water Solutions product portfolio and pricing strategy for the North America region. Wright has more than 25 years of experience in the water industry. Over the past eight years with BASF, he has held several sales management roles, the last being sales manager for Municipal Water & Wastewater, North America. Prior to BASF, Wright held various sales and technical roles in the chemical and electric power industries all involving the application of water technology. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and an MBA both from the University of Kentucky-Lexington. He is based in Suffolk, Va.
Eduardo has more than 28 years of experience in various laboratory and management roles within Ciba-Geigy, Ciba Specialty Chemicals, and Ciba Corp. For the past six years, she has been a product manager with Ciba and more recently BASF, managing the company’s high-quality and profitable product portfolios for additives and pigments. Following her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry program at Pace University in New York, she began her career as a formulations chemist at San Mar Laboratories developing and designing cosmetics, lotions, and shampoos from formula to package design for companies such as L’Oreal and Estee Lauder. She is based in Florham Park, N.J.

As the newly appointed technical service representative – East Coast, Riley provides technical support for the Eastern half of the United States as it relates to the sale of chemicals into the water and wastewater treatment industry. He is supporting BASF’s sales team, as well as its third party distribution channels.
Riley has nearly 20 years of experience in the water and wastewater treatment industries. An expert in the application of chemistry designed to separate clean water from solids and working with a host of clients both nationally and internationally, he has vast knowledge of matching problems with sustainable solutions. Most recently, he worked as the supervisor for BASF’s Water Solutions’ Technical Service Laboratory for North America, providing support and expertise to end users, direct and indirect sales, research and development and production.
Riley earned a Bachelor of Science Degree with Honors in Environmental Earth Sciences from the University of Wales-Aberystwyth, and a Master of Science Degree in Environmental Diagnostics from Cranfield University — both in the UK. He is based in Virginia Beach, Va.
