CH2M HILL Water Experts Named AWWA Fuller Award Winners

Lawrence Benjamin, Brad Phelps and Tom Walters presented with American Water Works Association’s highest honor for leadership

CH2M HILL, a global full-service consulting, design, construction and operations firm, announced that Lawrence Benjamin, Brad Phelps and Tom Walters were recognized with the prestigious American Water Works Association Fuller Award and inducted into the Fuller Society during ACE13. Selected from water professionals throughout their respective geographies, Fuller awardees exemplify the highest standards of professionalism and service to engineering. Lawrence was recognized by the British Columbia Territory Section, Phelps by the Pacific Northwest Section and Walters by the Alabama-Mississippi Section. 

This annual award is presented by AWWA to select members across North America in recognition of their distinguished service to the water supply field. It commemorates the sound engineering skill, brilliant diplomatic talent and constructive leadership that characterized the life of George Warren Fuller.

During his 36-year career Benjamin, CH2M HILL area manager for British Columbia and a senior project manager, has provided leadership to countless successful projects and developed numerous innovative water and wastewater treatment solutions for clients in British Columbia and across Canada. 

Phelps, CH2M HILL vice president and a water supply and conveyance principal project manager, is based in the firm’s Portland, Ore., office. With more than 30 years of engineering experience, he has led, managed, and designed water and wastewater system improvements throughout the Northwest and Pacific Rim. 

As vice president and a senior water and wastewater project manager, Walters currently serves a dual role for the CH2M HILL Water Business Group as the project delivery and quality manager for the U.S. client sector and East Region. With over 33 years of experience, he also serves as a client service manager for numerous clients in his home state of Alabama.
