Plant employee trapped underground

According to, wastewater treatment plant supervisor Dan Hackney was replacing a piece of underground equipment at the Terrible Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant in Fuquay-Varina, N.C., when his leg got caught in the machinery. 

Hackney, 44, was trapped 15 feet underground, but other operators working alongside him performing maintenance work were able to go for help. 

The state Division of Occupational Safety and the Department of Labor are investigating.
