The Water Environment Federation (WEF) has launched a redesigned web site for the National Biosolids Partnership (NBP), a voluntary program that advances environmentally sound biosolids management practices. The site, at www.biosolids.org, is housed within the WEF site and serves as an information clearinghouse on effective biosolids practices.

The development of the NBP Web site is part of a larger program update that includes new services to meet the needs of biosolids management organizations and the communities they serve. Operated by WEF in collaboration with the National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA)and local and regional biosolids management organizations across the U.S. and Canada with support from the U.S. EPA, the NBP offers a voluntary certification program based on an environmental management system (EMS) that requires participating organizations to go beyond regulatory requirements.

“WEF and the NBP remain committed to meeting the needs of biosolids management organizations and professionals,” said NBP steering committee chair Dick Lanyon. “The new web site reflects a commitment to continuous improvement in our services and provides an easy to use tool for accessing information on NBP programs as well as best management and technical practices.”

The revised web site provides information on all aspects of biosolids management. The EMS program is being expanded to provide two program options for public and private organizations that use best practices to manage biosolids.

The site also has a clearer navigation scheme, local and national biosolids contacts, and a more robust search engine with an advanced search function. In addition to the resources within the NBP site, visitors will have easy access to WEF’s online library of biosolids resources.

As an added service enhancement, the NBP has redesigned its popular electronic newsletter, which will now be released on bi-weekly. The revised newsletter is expected to launch in September.
