In Mebane, N.C., It’s All About the Instrumentation

See how the City of Mebane (N.C.) was able to improve plant process and meet nitrogen and phosphorus limits with increased instrumentation. As part of a pilot program, the plant installed a s::can analyzer with ammonia, pH, temperature and nitrate probes. Since then, the effluent ammonia has been within permit limits, and
nitrates have averaged below 2.0 mg/L.

And now? The plant and its dedicated staff are award-winners. Thanks to the innovative s::can instrumentation and improved controls, the team earned a 2013
Operation and Maintenance Excellence Award from the NC Professional Wastewater Operators Committee central region.
