The CORE (Continuous Oil Rescue Equipment) filter from Philadelphia Gear – A Timken Brand can remove particles as small as 1 micron. At the center is a series of annular magnets shrouded by steel plates. When the oil is filtered through these plates, it is subjected to a high magnetic flux gradient caused by the focusing of the magnetic field at the tips of the plates. The result is that contaminants are drawn into collection areas between the plates and out of the oil flow. This filtering process results in a negligible pressure drop, while at the same time helping to prevent “wash off” since the contaminant is isolated and cannot wash back into the oil. 800/766-5120; www.philagear.com.
